Students are eligible to proceed to the Wood Buffalo Regional Science Fair if they are selected as finalists in their school or classroom science fair.  Talk to your school’s fair organizer to learn how this selection will be made and how many students will be eligible to proceed to the regional fair. Students that do not have an opportunity to participate in a school fair are permitted to register directly into the Wood Buffalo Regional Science Fair.

Before You Begin the Registration Process, Please Read the Following:

  1. All participants and their parent(s) or guardian(s) must read and understand our Fair Rules and Safety Regulations before registering.
  2. Participants entering projects which include experiments or studies using living animals or humans are required to read our Human Subject and Animal Use Guidelines.
  3. Participants entering projects which include experiments or studies using recombinant or human DNA, animal viruses, potential pathogens, or animals (including isolated cells, tissues and bodily fluids) must submit an Application to Perform Research with DNA Biological Agents or Animals. Project approval must be obtained from the WBRSF Safety and Ethics Committee before any       experimentation or research begins.
  4. Participants entering projects which include experiments or studies using humans (this includes surveys) must submit an Application to Perform Research with Human Subjects. Project approval must be obtained from the WBRSF Safety and Ethics Committee before any experimentation or research begins. An Informed Consent Form must be issued to all human subjects participating in experiments, studies, or surveys.
